Toolset and SDK Overview
Clients can use the FLEX-air SDK to create customized instrumentation, modify the default behavior of existing features or create new features from scratch include RADAR models, MFD pages, Weapon systems and more.
FLEX-air is built upon popular COTS desktop simulator software that supports:
- High quality flight model.
- Curved Earth Model (WGS-84) with Global Database.
- Replay Functionality.
- Instructor Station Integration.
- Support for atmospheric to orbital flight transitions.
- 2D and 3D cockpits.
- High quality “out the window" display.
- Multi-Channel display capable.
Customizable Instrumentation and MFDs
- The look, size, location, layout and structure of the pages on the MFD can be specified for each aircraft and modified quickly for experimentation and rapid work flow.
- Built into the system is a collection of standard pages which can be used as is or modified to suit. These pages include:
- HUD repearter
- Store Management System
- Navigation
- Test / Failure
- Engine Management
- Advanced function pages can be modified using the SDK and include:
- Moving Map
- Autopilot
- RADAR (with support for both AESA and mechanical types)
- Radar Warning Receiver
- FLIR / EO
- Counter Measures
DIS Networking with Crew Station Support
- Each server also acts as a DIS gateway allowing much larger numbers of simulated entities.
- Using the internal networking system multiple crew stations per aircraft can be configured. This enables scenarios involving WSO's, Co-Pilots and more.
Comms
Sensors
- FLIR
- Electro-Optical view (supporting low light mode)
- RADAR
- Support for Air to Air and Air to Ground RADAR
- User-configurable modes that can be used to simulate AESA or mechinical arrays
- RADAR Warning Receiver
Electronic Warfare
- RADAR Warning Receiver
- Chaff (network aware)
- Flares (network aware)
- Radar Jamming
Weapons
- Configurable warheads, propulsion and sensors
- Sensor systems including:
- IR
- Semi-Active RADAR
- Active RADAR
- Laser Designation and Laser guided weapons
- GPS guided weapons
- LARs support for both A/A and A/G weapons
In addition, there are a wide variety of standard weapons available by default.
SAR / ISAR Module
UAV tools
- Stand alone mode, where all activity for the UAV is performed in the FLEX-AIR environment
- Ride along mode, where simulation and / or control of the UAV is performed by an external federate with the FLEX-Air system used to control on-board sensors.
The UAV tools are supplied as an additional plug-in, separate to the core FLEX-air installation at an additional cost.
3D Models
- SAM batteries and accompanying RADAR units (eg SA-2, SA-10, SA-15, SA-20)
- Tanks (eg T-54, T-72, M1A1)
- Aircraft (eg Typhoon, F-4e, F-16, MiG-29)
- Generic buildings and bunkers
Additional models can be developed for customers – please contact us to discuss your requirements.
